Recently I have been drawn to the 🌛“Cycles of the Moons” 🌜learning more interesting facts about them. A 🌝Full Moon occurs when the 🌎Earth is positioned between the sun and the moon, causing the moon's near side to be completely sunlit. Some of the effects of a full moon can cause higher 💦tides due to the gravitational alignment of the moon and the 😎sun. A full moon occurs roughly once a month, as it takes the moon about 29.5 days to go through all its phases.
There are several different types of Full Moons, to name a few … Blue Moon, Super Moon, Blood Moon, and Super Blood Moons.
What is a 🔵Blue Moon: For starters, the moon color is not Blue. Research on this particular moon dates back to 1528. A Blue Moon refers to the presence of a 2nd Full Moon in a calendar month. A Blue Moon happens once every two or three years on an average.
Super Blue Moons are considered a rare occurrence as they can occur every 20 years but in general we often see 10 years as the average.
There are two types of Blue Moons... Seasonal and Monthly
Seasonal Blue Moons are defined as the 3rd Full Moon of an Astronomical Season that has 4 full moons. (equinoxes and solstices)
Next “Seasonal Blue Moons” will occur on:
- Year of 2027 on May 20th 2027
- Year of 2029 on August 24th 2029
- Year of 2023 on August 21st 2032
- Year of 2023 on May 22nd 2035
- Year of 2038 on May 18th 2038
- Year of 2043 on August 22nd 2040
Monthly Blue Moons are defined as the 2nd Full Moon in a calendar month with 2 Full Moons.
Next “Monthly Blue Moon” will occur on:
- Year of 2026 on May 31st 2026
- Year of 2028 on December 31st 2028
- Year of 2031 on September 30th 2031
- Year of 2034 on July 31st 2034
RARE EVENT IN 2037 – Two Super Monthly Blue Moons–
- January 31st 2037 and March 31st 2037
RARER EVENT in 2048 and 2067 - Monthly and Seasonal Blue Moon same year.
- Year of 2048 on January 31st and August 23rd. and again 19 years later
- Year of 2067 on March 30th and November 20th
What is a 💪Super Moon:
A Super Moon is a full moon that occurs when the moon is at its closest point to Earth, also known as perigee. A Super Moon can appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than a regular full moon and occur 3 to 4 times a year.
In 2025 there will be 3 Super Moons all occurring the last quarter of 2025,
- October 7th
- November 5th
- December 4th
What is a 🟥Blood Moon:
Popular term for a Total Lunar Eclipse. This occurs when the earth passes between the Sun and the Moon casting a shadow on the moon. The number of Blood Moons varies each year.
- The next Blood Moon will occur March 14th 2025 and September 7th 2025
What is a 💪🟥Super Blood Moon
A Super Blood Moon is a rare event that happens when the Earth’s Shadow falls on the moon causing it to appear larger and redder than usual.
The last Super Blood Moon occurred on May 26th 2021 and was completely visible in Australia.
- The next Super Blood Moon will be on October 8, 2033. It will be visible from Asia, Australia, the Pacific, and the Americas.
